Effective: 16 October 2026
1. Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to the gTimer apps, gTimer account services, device synchronisation and the gTimer support website. In this policy, “gTimer”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the operator of gTimer in Victoria, Australia.
2. Information you choose to record
Depending on the features you use, gTimer may process:
- dose amount, unit, substance, date and time;
- notes, tags, people labels, missed-dose details and timing annotations;
- location names, addresses, latitude and longitude when location logging is enabled;
- app preferences, quick-dose settings, colour choices and saved locations;
- profile details such as your name, email address and optional profile photo;
- account, device and subscription information needed for sign-in, synchronisation and gTimer Pro; and
- support messages you send to us.
3. Local-only use
You can use core gTimer features without creating an account. In local-only mode, dose history and settings remain in the app's storage on that device, subject to device backups and operating-system behaviour. Removing the app can remove local-only information, so use the backup feature before uninstalling or replacing a device.
4. Accounts and synchronisation
If you enable synchronisation, gTimer sends the information needed to keep supported devices consistent. Apple-device sync may use Apple's iCloud services. Cross-platform sync and account features may use gTimer's SyncAPI service. Sync records can include dose data, settings, saved locations, profile information, device identifiers and deletion records.
Passwords are not stored in readable form. Authentication tokens are stored using protected device storage where supported. Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. No system can be guaranteed completely secure.
5. Location, maps, photos and camera
gTimer requests operating-system permission before accessing location, photos or camera features. Location can be attached to a dose, used to suggest a nearby saved place, or displayed on a map. Map search and geocoding queries may be processed by Apple Maps. Photos and camera access are used only when you choose a profile-photo action. You can change permissions in system settings.
6. Notifications and shortcuts
If enabled, gTimer schedules local reminders on your device. Siri, Shortcuts and assisted logging process the information you provide to create a dose record. Their operation is also governed by Apple's privacy terms and your device settings.
7. Purchases
Apple processes App Store purchases and payment information. gTimer receives transaction and entitlement information needed to activate, restore and validate gTimer Pro, but does not receive your full payment-card details.
8. Service providers
We use service providers only where needed to operate a feature. These may include Apple for App Store purchases, iCloud, maps, notifications and platform services; infrastructure providers for SyncAPI and this website; and GitHub for public software-release metadata. Their handling of information is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
9. Retention and deletion
Local records remain until you edit, delete or remove them or the app's storage. Deleted synced records may be retained temporarily as deletion markers so that deletion can propagate to other devices. Server information is retained while your account is active and for a limited period afterwards where needed for backup integrity, security, dispute resolution or legal obligations.
You can request account deletion from the app when that control is available, or by following the instructions on the support page. We may need to verify that the request belongs to you.
10. Your choices
You can disable location logging, notifications, cloud sync and assisted logging in gTimer or system settings. You can export or back up supported app data, correct records, remove synced devices and request account deletion.
11. Children
gTimer is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect account information from children.
12. Health information and emergencies
gTimer is an organisational and harm-reduction tool. It does not provide medical advice, assess whether taking a substance is safe, or replace professional care. If you believe someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
13. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as gTimer changes. The effective date above identifies the current version. For privacy questions, contact privacy@gtimer.app.
